PREFACE To aid you in understanding the brewing process, it is most advantageous to have a general knowledge of the raw materials used. Along with a short description of the raw materials, this booklet is presented in the form of a plant tour, taking you in order, step by step, through the process from its beginning to its logical conclusion, the attainment of beer in the bottle, can, or keg, ready for consumption. (See fig.)
Before we can enter the brewery, there are certain basic principles that we should bear in mind. First, we list the ingredients required for the production of beer. These are, in order of their use in the brewery:
(1) Malt(2) Water
(3) An Adjunct (usually corn)
(4) Hops
(5) Yeast
(6) Carbon Dioxide
